Kolkata: The well known fashion designer Sharbari Datta found dead at her residence in Kolkata. The body was found in washroom at her residence late on Thursday night. Police claimed it found no foul play during preliminary investigation. However, body is been sent for autopsy.
Amalin Datta, son of Sharbari Datta, himself a fashion designer said, “I had last seen my mother on Wednesday. I didn’t see her throughout Thursday. I thought she was busy and had gone out for work. It is nothing unusual. Both of us remain so busy that we don’t get to meet every day”.
Police will be handing over the body to family members later in the day.
According to Police, the body was found in the washroom of her residence at Broad Street, a posh residential colony in south Kolkata around 11:30pm. Family members called up the family physician who advised them to inform the police.
63 year old, Sharbari Dutta was the daughter of the famous Bengali poet Ajit Dutta. Sharbari was a famous fashion designer mostly recognized for the design of the men’s ethnic wear. It is said that Dutta was the first to introduce a colorful dhoti and designer Punjabi kurta for Bengali men into the fashion world.
