In this backdrop, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has directed all guardian ministers to increase vaccination in their respective districts.
The chief minister reviewed the Covid-19 situation in the State. He directed the guardian ministers to increase the pace of vaccination to tackle rising cases. He asked them to observe caution while taking measures. He instructed officials to arrange the taskforce meeting in a couple of days.
Concerns were expressed in the state cabinet meeting on Monday. Around five lakh doses are administered per day. Some days ago, eight lakh doses were given. He told the guardian minister to ensure speedy vaccination in their respective districts.
State Health Secretary Dr Pradeep Vyas said there were 6,200 Covid-19 patients on December 8. However, there were 10,000 active patients on December 27. There has been a 50 percent increase in the past 20 days. The number of patients rose three times in the past six days. Currently, the positivity rate is 1.06 percent in the State.
