Pune: Deccan Express – Pune Crime | Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta is taking action against criminal gangs by using MCOCA and so far, has taken action against 89 gangs and many gangsters have been sent to prison. CP Amitabh Gupta has taken action against notorious criminal Dinanath alias Sonya Gorakhshanath Pawar and his gang, which had spread terror in the limits of Kothrud police station, under the MCOCA. This is the 89th action taken against criminal gangs so far and 26th action this year. (Pune Crime)
Action under MCOCA has been taken against gang leader Dinanath alias Sonya Gorakhshanath Pawar (22), a resident of Shastri Nagar, Kothrud, his aides and criminals as per police records in Kothrud police station Akshay alias Jwala Shantaram Yevle (23), a resident of Sutardhara, Kothrud, Pradeep alias Padya Bhola Mirdha (19), a resident of Susgaon, Mulshi taluka and a minor.
The accused Dinanath alias Sonya Pawar and his three aides had spread terror in the limits of Kothrud police station to establish their supremacy. The gang was involved in serious crimes like attempted murder, causing grievous injury, causing injuries by using sharp weapons, illegal possession of sharp weapons, attempted robbery, frightening people with weapons and indulging in violence.
Preventive action had been taken against the gang but there was no improvement in their behaviour. Senior PI of Kothrud police station Mahendra Jagtap prepared a proposal of taking action against the gang under MCOCA and sent it via DCP Pournima Gaikwad to Addl CP Rajendra Dahale. Since the proposal was cleared by Dahale, action against the gang under MCOCA was taken. Further investigation is being carried out by ACP Rukmini Galande.
The action was taken by a team of police officials including senior PI Mahendra Jagtap, PI Balasaheb Bade, PSI Digambar Kokate, policemen Bhaskar Buchade, Ajay Sawant and Anil Barad under the guidance of CP Amitabh Gupta, Joint CP Sandeep Karnik, Addl CP Rajendra Dahale, DCP Pournima Gaikwad and ACP Rukmini Galande.
