Pune : Deccan Express – Pune Corporation | The Pune Municipal Corporation on the one hand is trying to rent out the amenity space for 30 years to increase its income, while on the other hand, the school building at Karvenagar (Pune Corporation) will be rented for only Rs 1.
This decision has been taken by the Warje-Karvenagar Ward Committee. Vivek Welankar, president of Sajag Nagrik Manch, has demanded that the decision be cancelled as the land was being given to a private company while the school was being built at a cost of Rs 2.5 crore.
The land reserved for the primary school in Karvenagar was taken over by the Municipal Corporation in exchange for TDR. After that, NMC has built a school there by spending Rs. 2.5 crore. The building has not received the completion certificate and the school has not even started. Meanwhile, the ward committee has decided to rent the school hall to a social organization for five years at an annual rate of one rupee. Welankar has demanded that this resolution should be cancelled as it is detrimental to NMC.
Ward Committee Chairperson Vrushali Chaudhary said, “Although the resolution has been approved by the ward committee, no further action has been taken on it. We are renting a room in the school for one rupee. In return, the students in the ward will be given free guidance by the concerned institution.
