Maharashtra Weather: Pre-monsoon rains continue to hit the state, with torrential downpours in these districts including Pune

Although the monsoon has not yet arrived in Maharashtra, the pre-monsoon rains have lashed the state. The state has been receiving pre-monsoon rains for the last few days. On Sunday (Dec. 30), heavy rains lashed Pune, Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, Nanded and Osmanabad districts. The rains have caused severe damage to many farmers. The banana orchards have been severely damaged due to torrential rains along with strong winds.

The monsoon rains in the state are still a few weeks away. However, monsoon conditions have prevailed in the state. In many places the temperature mercury has fallen below average. Therefore, the overall monsoon season is being experienced in the state. According to the meteorological department, Satara, Ratnagiri, Thane, Mumbai, Thane, Beed, Parbhani, Hingoli and Ahmednagar districts, including Pune, are likely to receive thundershowers in the next three to four hours.

The meteorological department has also warned Mumbaikars. East monsoon is expected in Mumbai, Pune, Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, Solapur, Marathwada, Central Maharashtra and Vidarbha in the next five days. Heavy rain with thunderstorms and strong winds is expected here. Therefore, the farmers have been given a high alert by the weather department.
