Who is DGP Sanjay Pandey?

Sanjay Pandey is a senior IPS officer of 1986 batch. After the removal of Parambir Singh from the post of Mumbai Commissioner, he became the head of the Home Guard. Pandey then had expressed displeasure over the appointment of him as the head of the relatively less important State Security Corporation. Those who were a couple of years younger than me, that is, juniors, were given higher positions. I have written in the letter that my file was not sent to the UPSC. He had also said that he would go to court against the state government.

Sanjay Pandey had earlier written a letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray expressing displeasure over the transfer. In it, he expressed the feeling of injustice. He said that he was sidelined every time in spite of having the ability. The letter also said that he was ignored during his tenure as Director General of the Bribery Prevention Department.

The post became vacant after Parambir Singh was removed from the post of Mumbai Commissioner. In the letter, Sanjay Pandey had lamented that Parambir Singh’s work was not going well, lamenting that the post was given to his junior officer without giving him a chance at that time. Sanjay Pandey had also said that Singh had not cooperated with him in the investigation of a case.
