Pune : deccan express – Seven people died and 15 residents were injured in a fire that broke out on Saturday morning at multi-storey Kamala Building near the Bhatia Hospital in Tardeo. The flames were brought under control and residents were evacuated to a safer place. This was revealed by the BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation. (Mumbai)
After being informed, 13 fire engines rushed to the spot. Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar and local corporators were monitoring the situation. Pednekar said six senior citizens were shifted to hospital as they needed oxygen supply. The blaze was brought under control; however, huge smoke was billowing out of the building. The remaining residents were rescued.
The Kamala Building has 20 floors. The fire broke out on the 18th floor at around 7.30 am. The blaze had a level-3 intensity, said the fire brigade. The injured were admitted to the Bhatia Hospital.
