Two arrested for demanding extortion of Rs 8 lakh to avoid municipal action

Pune : Deccan Express Pune Crime News | Two persons demanded extortion of Rs 8 lakh to avoid municipal action against a shed on the ancestral land calling it unauthorised. Two persons, including a woman, have been arrested by the Kothrud Police. The arrested woman identified herself to the complainant as the district president of the Women’s Front of the Republican Party of India RPI (A). (Pune Crime News)

 

The two arrested have been identified as Pooja Kalu Taid (45) and Nilesh Shankar Waghmare (35), both from Kothrud. Nitin Shinde (32) from Kothrud has lodged a complaint at the Kothrud Police Station.

 

According to the police, the complainant and his three uncles own four acres and four guntas of ancestral land at Shinde Farm, Kothrud. Accused Pooja and Nilesh in connivance applied to the municipality regarding the illegality of the steel shed on the 10,000 square feet land owned by the complainant Nitin Shinde’s father.

 

The accused met the complainant to withdraw the application made to the municipality and not to take any action against the shed. Pooja Taid identified herself as the president of city and District Mahila Aghadi of RPI(A). The accused demanded a ransom of Rs 8 lakh from the complainant and his uncles, if the municipality action is to be avoided. They were asked to pay the money in two days. They were threatened with action in four to five days. A case has been filed for demanding Rs 5 lakh after a compromise. The Kothrud police are conducting further investigation.
