Held at Bharati Vidyapeeth’s New Law College
Pune : Deccan Express – Bharati Vidyapeeth’s New Law College | | Seminar on ‘Using Consumer Protection Act, 2019 for Consumer Empowerment’ was organized by Bharati Vidyapeeth’s New Law College( Pune) in collaboration with Mumbai Grahak Panchayat.It was held under guidance of Dr.Ujwala Bendale,Dean of Law Faculty,Bharati Vidyapeeth and in charge Principal of New Law College, at Erandwane Campus. The resource person were Adv. Pranali Jayant Sawant (Ex President, Pune District Consumer Commission), Adv.Shirish Deshpande (Chairman, Mumbai Grahak Panchayat ),Umesh Jawalikar (President, Pune District Consumer Commission).
Adv. Pranali Jayant Sawant discussed the history behind the passing of the Consumer protection Act by discussing recent cases and unfair and restrictive trade practices. Adv.Shirish Deshpande (Chairman, Mumbai Grahak Panchayat ) elaborated Consumer Protection through Class Action under CPA, 2019 distinguishing group complaints and class action. The session was concluded by Umesh Jawalikar (President, Pune District Consumer Commission) who addressed the students on various consumer issues and the role of the District Consumer Commission in the settlement of disputes. He encouraged and guided the law students about the functioning of the District Consumer Commission.
Lalita Kulkarni Trustee of MGP and other members were present for the seminar. Dr. Jyoti Dharm,Assistant Professor, presided over the seminar. The seminar was organized by Dr. Rajlakshmi Wagh, Assistant Professor.
