Pune: Students, whose name has been included in the waiting list of ‘Right to Education’ – RTE admissions – can decide and further secure their admissions up to October 8. The school education department has provided much relief to parents and students who were waiting for the first round of RTE Admissions to get completed.
The first round of RTE Admissions was started in March. On March 17, for about 1.15 lakh seats in the state, the admission process was started. In the first round about 1.01 lakhs students were selected for admissions. Of these only 68201 students had secured their admissions. However after that, a lockdown was announced in the state in wake of the Covid-19 outbreak.
Recently, the unlocking phases begun and once again the RTE admissions process has regained momentum. About 47271 seats are still vacant in the first round as only 68201 students had secured their admissions prior to the lockdown imposition. Hence, the remaining students who were included in the waiting list have been given an extended deadline till October 8 for securing their admissions.
Parents will be informed through SMS service about the vacant RTE seats in each school. They will also be informed about the admission date. The school education department has appealed parents to not rely upon only the SMS service. Parents should visit the RTE portal and enter the students application number to check for the admission date for the schools, the school education department officials said. For more information, parents can visit the portal https://student.maharashtra.gov.in/adm_portal/Users/rteindex.
