Pune : deccan express – The Anti-Corruption Bureau, Pune on Thursday caught a woman PSI red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs70,000. Her colleague and other accused, an API; however, escaped with the bribe money. The accused have been identified as Hema Siddharam Solunke (28), a resident of Sangvi, and Ashok Balkrishna Desai.
They had demanded Rs 1 lakh to cancel a rape complaint against the complainant. A compromise was reached over an amount of Rs 75,000.
While Desai is on the run, Solunke has been remanded in police custody for four days after she was produced before the court. Both Solunke and Desai are attached to the Sangvi police station. A 42-year-old person lodged a complaint in this regard.
Arguing before the special court, public prosecutor Pradeep Gehlot demanded police custody of Solunke. He said Desai, “Desai escaped with the bribe money, which needs to be seized with the help of Solunke. Her voice samples have to be taken. Moreover, the possibility of involvement of other persons in the case has to be investigated. Hence, Solunke’s police custody is needed.”
Defence lawyer Adv Suhas Kolhe argued on behalf of Solunke. The court remanded the arrested in police custody for four days after hearing arguments from both sides.
