A case has been registered against 23 people, including landlord Sunil Deepak Tingre and gambling spot owner Vishal Parkhe, at Vishrantwadi police station.
According to the information shared by the police, Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Deshmukh had received confidential information that large-scale illegal gambling was going on in Dhanori. Accordingly, he formed a squad of Yerawada police station and raided there. During the operation, 25 gamblers including Vishal Parkhe and landlord Sunil were caught. All of them were charged and arrested. Later, they were produced in court on Wednesday afternoon. The court has released them on bail for now. During the operation, cash worth Rs 72,980, two four-wheeler, three two-wheeler, eleven mobile phones and gambling material were seized.
It is clear from the incident that illegal trades are being carried out secretly even after taking frequent action in Vishrantwadi area including the city. However, the action was directly taken by the senior officers and the squad of another police station which has exposed the illegal traders.
