Pune: Pet owner booked after his dog bites 7-year-old girl in old Sangvi society

Pune: A pet owner has been booked by Sangvi police after his dog bit a 7-year-old girl in the Jaymala Nagar Society of Old Sangvi. The incident happened on Friday (December 25) evening at the lane number 5 of the society.

The pet owner has been identified as Sanjay Vinayak Pawar. He has been booked under sections 289 (negligent conduct with respect to animal) and 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) of the Indian Penal Code.

Jyotsna Rajkumar Ingole (26) has filed a complaint against Pawar in this regard. The FIR was registered against him on Saturday (December 26) at 3.40pm at the Sangvi police station.

According to the complaint registered, Jyotsna’s daughter Pratiksha (7) was talking with her father over mobile phone on December 25 evening at around 6.30pm. Pawar has three pet dogs at his house of which one dog was let out by him without taking precautions. The dog bit the girl on her right leg thigh and injured her. When Jyotsna came to know about the incident, she reported it to the Sangvi police.
