Pune: In Maharashtra the state electricity distribution company (MSEDCL) has come up with a new scheme in favor of consumers. MSEDCL has decided to offer an installment scheme to high and low tension domestic, commercial and industrial consumers to help them clearing their pending bills and also their current bills. The scheme would also be offering to reinstate the power supply of defaulters.

In the past few months we have seen consumers having issues with their electricity bills and because of which their bills are due till now and also coronavirus is also a reason because people are not financially stable. This statement is issued for the welfare of all the consumers, it was issued on Thursday by a distribution firm.

Consumers who have filed court cases regarding the electricity bills can also avail the scheme if they agree on taking their cases back without any further condition.

The scheme will be allowing consumers to pay in three installments and clear the arrears without making any down payment, this scheme is only for the consumers whose electricity is not disconnected. Whereas consumers whose electricity is disconnected have to make 30 percent down payment and can clear the arrears in 12 installments. Also these consumers have to submit an application for reconnection with paying suitable charges for it.

Also this scheme could be available online as the MSEDCL website will have a separate portal to enable consumers to apply online.

There are different criteria for different kinds of load in the scheme which is Consumers with sanctioned load of more than 20kwh can submit the application at divisional office and consumers having less than 20kwh load can approach sub divisional office and high tension consumers can approach circle offices.

If there is a court case then a decision over an application can take 15 days otherwise it will take 7 days. Consumers while applying for the scheme will have to pay 2 percent of the arrear. The scheme is applicable for 2020-21 only.

Consumers who want to avail the instalment scheme will have to submit an affidavit on rd. 200 stamp paper, they have to state that they are participating in the scheme unconditionally.
