Pune : deccan express – The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) administration has extended the date of application for the scholarships to class X and class XII pass students to January 28, said Additional Municipal Commissioner Dnyaneshwar Molak.

The decision was taken after considering the late admission process to various graduation courses such as medical, engineering, pharmacy, agriculture, and various other courses, this year due to the pandemic.

It is mandatory for the students to attach proof of their admissions to any of these courses while filling in the application forms. So, it is likely that the students who have yet to secure their admissions may be deprived of the scheme.

The students who have passed class X scoring above 80% marks are eligible for the Bharat Ratna Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Scholarship amounting to Rs 15,000. Also, the students who have passed class XII with 80% are entitled to the Lokshahir Annabhau Sathe Scholarship amounting to Rs 25,000. The eligibility condition for the students going to the PMC-run schools and the students belonging to backward class is 65% marks.

Earlier, the final date to apply for the scheme was December 31, which is extended now to January 28, said Molak. So far, 11,091 students have applied under this scheme. The budget of the civic body for these one-time scholarships together is Rs 21 crores, said Molak.
