Pune has 19 blackspots where fatal accidents take place

Pune : deccan expressThere are 19 blackspots in the city where fatal accidents could take place. This has been stated as per data made available by the Pune traffic police.

 

In all, 255 people died in 741 accidents in Pune last year. The Sinhagad Road police recorded 45 fatal accidents, the highest number in Pune. The blackspots, Navale Bridge and Katraj Bypass fall under their jurisdiction.

 

Giving details about the blackspots, DCP Traffic Rahul Shrirame said, “We have prepared a list of 19 blackspots on the basis of data collected during 2021. We are studying possible causes behind the accidents taking place at these blackspots. However, the number of accidents declined in 2021 as compared to 2020.”

 

DCP Shrirame said most accidents take place on account of rash driving or human error. Commuters should drive vehicles carefully and safely by following the traffic rules. Two-wheeler riders must follow the helmet rule.

 

The list of 19 blackspots in Pune goes like this: Valley Bridge road, Katraj New Tunnel road, Navale Bridge crossroads, Dukkar Khind road, Bhumkar Chowk, Vaiduwadi Chowk, Khadi Machine crossroads, Fursungi Diversion, Fursungi Railway Bridge, Saswad road along IBM, Mutha River Bridge Chowk, Tata Guard Room Chowk, Kharadi Bypass crossroads, Mundhwas Railway Bridge crossroads, Thite Vasti crossroads, Pathan Shah Dargah crossroads, Sainath Chowk, and Katraj Chowk.
