Pune : deccan express  – Pune crime | A woman traffic constable asked a car owner to pay a pending fine. However, he did not follow her instructions and drove off. Hence, the constable issued Rs 1,200 e-challan to him. Enraged, the car driver threatened the traffic constable. When he tried to escape, the constable got into his car. However, he did not stop his car and drove on, along with the constable.

The Vishrantwadi police have arrested the car driver. He has been identified as Vaibhav Jangam (31), a resident of Talwade (dist. Satara). The incident happened around 12 noon on Wednesday at Chandrama Chowk. The traffic branch woman police constable has lodged a complaint in this regard with the Vishrantwadi police.

According to the police, the complainant was on duty at the intersection. She took a photo of the car and checked on her e-challan machine. It showed pending Rs 600 fine against the car owner. She asked the driver to take his car to the roadside. However, he drove away. Hence, the constable issued an online challan and fined Rs 1,200 under sections 184, 24/2/177 of the Motor Vehicle Act.

The driver got the e-challan on his mobile phone. He came back to the intersection. He started abusing the constable. He challenged her authority saying, “Who gave you the right to issue the challan? Why have you issued it?”

He started shouting at her. The constable told him to file his complaint at the traffic branch. He, however, told her to pay the fine and made lewd remarks on her. Then he threatened her and said, “I am a heart patient. If anything happens to me, you will be responsible.”

The constable took him to the Yerwada traffic division. He started running away. The complainant was sitting in the car. The car driver drove her around from Chandrama Chowk to Ambedkar Chowk and obstructed the complainant in her work.

The police then arrested Vaibhav Jangam.
