Pune Crime News | Ethiopia bait: Pune couple dupes one of Rs 30 lakh

Deccan Express | Pune-based couple duped one from Mumbai in the pretext of giving job in Ethiopia. Pune police have booked Bopodi based couple in the case.

The incident took place between 2018 and July 2021. Police have booked Somendra Saraswat (43) and Neha Saraswat both residents of Bopodi. Kedar Ganala (52) from Mumbai has lodged a case with the Khadki police.

Complainant got in touch with Saraswat couple through common friends. Later accused told that they are in touch with a consultant in Ethiopia and they have around 10-15 test tube baby centers in the country.

They also told the complainant that they are running a business successfully. Later they told the complainant that he can also get a medical license and work there. After gaining the confidence they asked him to pay Rs 20 lakh through RTGS and Rs 10 lakh later.

After giving Rs 30 lakh when the complainant failed to get a medical license he started asking for a refund. The accused couple gave him cheques which later were bounced too. Later when the complainant felt to be cheated and lodge a complaint with the Khadki police.

Tambe, the police sub-inspector is conducting further investigation into the case.
