Deccan Express – Pune Crime | The anti-extortion squad of Pune Police Crime Branch has handcuffed a criminal who robbed a petrol pump employee by threatening him with a scythe. This action was taken today (Monday) on Sinhagad Road in Pune. The incident took place on August 12 at Sathe petrol pump in Lohegaon around midnight. The arrested accused is Rohan Jaideep Chavan (age 19, resident of Mangalwar Peth, Pune).
Sub-Inspector of Police Vijay Jhanjad and Police Officers Shailesh Surve, Surendra Jagdale, Sachin Ahiwale, Mahesh Salunke and Ayaz Dadikar were patrolling in connection with the combing operation. The absconding accused, who was lodged at Faraskhana police station at that time, was staying at Pokale Mala, Sinhagad Road. This information came to the notice of police constables Surendra Jagdale and Shailesh Surve. Accordingly, the team arrested the accused Rohan Chavan and conducted a thorough investigation.
During interrogation, accused Rohan Chavan accepted that with the help of his accomplice Aniket Jadhav (resident of Dhor Galli, Ganesh Peth, Pune), stole Rs 16,000 from an employee at a petrol pump at Lohegaon within the limits of Viman Nagar Police Station. The accused had shared the stolen money.
The anti-extortion squad has seized Rs 5,100 from accused Chavan. An investigation by the anti-extortion squad has uncovered two cases at the airport and Faraskhana police station. The accused has been handed over to the airport police. Police Inspector Balaji Pandhare of Anti-Ransom Squad 2 and his team have taken this action under the guidance of their seniors.
