PUNE : deccan express – Pune Cantonment board has made preparations to tackle the omicron situation after the state government conveyed information about omicron infected persons in the board area. Board has set up 15 beds isolation wards in cantonment areas.
Dr Usha Tapase, Residential Medical Superintendent of Cantonment board said, “After we got information from the state health department about Omicron inspected persons in cantonment board areas, we have set up a special ward.”
She further said, “We found mild symptoms in infected persons. We have the capacity to set up a special general ward of 120 beds for omicron infected persons. We have a facility of 10 ICU beds. We will add another 10 ICU beds in the existing set up.”
Few days back, one person came to Pune from Dubai. He tested Omicron positive during the test. After that, the board conducted tests on his family members. Board has found an infection in a child and two women. All members were kept in an isolation ward for 12 days. Now, all members are fit and fine.
Board set up a team of one doctor, three nurses and one ambulance. Dr Prakash Bhosale has been appointed as nodal officer for a special set up team. Team has started work to identify the omicron infected persons.
Dr Bhosale said, “We have started testing in a society where an infected person is living. Team is conducting an RT-PCR test under police protection.”
