Pune : Deccan Express – Pune Anti Corruption | The Pune Bribery Prevention Department caught a group education officer of Pune Zilla Parishad accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 for admission in a school under RTE. Ramdas Walzade (age 50) and Vikas Nandkumar Dhumal (age 40), a member of Haveli RTE Admission Verification Committee, were arrested for taking bribe.
Walzade demanded a bribe of Rs 50,000 to give free admission to the complainant’s (40-year-old) daughter at Wisdom World School Hadapsar under RTE. As the complainant was not able to pay the bribe, he lodged a complaint with the Pune Bribery Prevention Department. Officers from the squad set the trap on Wednesday (Sept. 1). Vikas Dhumal, a member of the RTE Admission Verification Committee set up by the complainant for school admission by the Haveli Panchayat Samiti, was caught red-handed taking a bribe of Rs 50,000 for Walzade.
The action was taken under the guidance of Pune Bribery Prevention Division Superintendent of Police Rajesh Bansode (ACB SP Rajesh Bansode), Additional Superintendent of Police Suraj Gurav, Addl SP Suhas Nadgauda, Deputy Superintendent of Police Vijaymala Pawar by DySp Vijaymala Pawar, Inspector of Police Bharat Salunkhe, women police constable Supriya Kadbane, Shilpa Tupe, police constable Kiran Chimte, driver constable Prashant Walke.
Citizens should lodge a complaint with the Bribery Prevention Department if a public servant is demanding a bribe for government work, an appeal has been made on behalf of the Bribery Prevention Department. Citizen can also contact the Bribery Prevention Department’s helpline number 1064.
