Deccan Express : Rajesh Patil, Commissioner of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) warned private schools of stern action if they exploit parents or students in regards to uniform, fees, or any other related thing including not allowing admission under the Right To Education (RTE) act.

Recently Patil met representatives from private schools. During the meeting, he warned schools and asked them to be more flexible considering the Covid-19 pandemic and restrictions.

He also appealed to representatives to reduce the fees by at least 15 percent for this academic year.

Recently few cases were registered where PCMC has served notice to a few schools who refused admission to eligible students under the RTE act.

Recently, the Maharashtra English School Trustees Association (MESTA) which comprises 18,000 English medium schools from Maharashtra including around 800 from Pune resolved to cut the academic fees by 25 percent for the current academic year.

MESTA also has decided not to charge fees from students who have lost their parents due to the Covid-19.  The decision was taken at MESTA’s recent meeting.

Students studying in Junior Kindergarten to class 12th will be benefited from the decision.
