Sangli : Deccan Express – Maharashtra Crime News |A shocking incident has been reported in Sangli. Two unidentified persons attacked the deputy collector of Sangli. The accused attacked Deputy Collector Harshlata Gedam with a knife and injured her. The incident took place when she had gone for jogging and the incident has created a flutter in the city.
Harshlata Gedam had gone for jogging at Kalpdrum ground in Neminath Nagar area of Sangli. While she was jogging, two men who were on a bike, caught her hand. Gedam kicked a man and he fell on the ground. The second accused attacked Gedam with a knife and she has suffered minor injuries. Gedam, who has learnt martial arts, attacked them and the accused escaped from the scene.
One of the accused had followed Gedam and tried to tease her on May 17 but she had ignored him. On Friday, the same person attacked Gedam on the ground. Gedam has lodged a complaint at the Vishrambaug police station. An FIR has been registered against an unknown person.
