Gang of robbers arrested by Hadapsar police, goods worth Rs 13 lakh seized

Pune : The Hadapsar police have arrested a gang of robbers who used to break into houses by breaking the lock and latch of locked houses and steal gold jewellery. The accused have admitted to involvement in seven robberies and the police have seized goods worth Rs 13 lakh from them.

The accused have been identified as Arjun Ashok Patil (31), a resident of SN number 106, near Mahakali temple, Gosavi Vasti, Hadapsar and Vijay Subhash Deshmane, a resident of Rautwadi, Buldhana. Anilkumar Jaggarao Bedalam, a resident of Swapnapurti Society, Hadapsar has lodged a complaint at the Hadapsar police station.

According to the police, Anilkumar Bedalam had gone on a pilgrimage to Tirupati on February 10. After he returned home, he realised that ornaments had been stolen from his house. He informed the Hadapsar police and they registered an offence against unknown persons.

When the investigation was being done through technical analysis, policemen Shashikant Nale, Nikhil Pawar and Sachin Jadhav got some information and they detained accused Arjun Ashok Patil and questioned him. He admitted breaking into houses along with Akash Lakre. The police seized gold ornaments of 165 gm worth Rs 7 lakh 15 thousand from them.

Meanwhile, another robbery had taken place at Ketkeshwar Colony in Kalepadal area of Hadapsar. The Unit 5 of the Crime Branch who were probing the robbery, arrested Vijay Deshmane and handed him over to the Hadapsar police. When he was questioned, he admitted committing the crime. He revealed that he had given the stolen ornaments to goldsmith Akshay Srinivas Dixit (25), a resident of Kalewadi, Pimpri. The police seized 120 gm gold ornaments worth Rs 6 lakh 3 thousand 500 and silver ornaments of 35 gm from Dixit.

The Hadapsar police arrested two persons and seven crimes have been exposed. The police have seized goods worth Rs 13 lakh 18 thousand 500.

The action was taken by a team of police officials including API Vijaykumar Shinde, PSI Avinash Shinde, policemen Pradip Sonawane, Avinash Gosavi, Sandip Rathod, Samir Pandule, Shashikant Nale, Sachin Jadhav, Shahid Shaikh, Prashant Dudhal, Nikhil Pawar, Prashan Tonpe, Riyaz Shaikh, Sachin Gorkhe and Suraj Kumar under the guidance of CP Amitabh Gupta, Joint CP Dr Ravindra Shisve, Additional CP Namdev Chavan, DCP Namrata Patil, ACP Bajrang Desai, senior police inspector Arvind Gokule, police inspector Digambar Shinde and police inspector Vishwas Dagle.
