Pune : deccan express – The state government has approved the setting up five new police stations in the jurisdiction of the Pune rural police and a new sub division. Out of the five, approval for two police stations had been given last week. Hence, the Pune rural police will have 35 police stations including the cyber police station in its jurisdiction. The new police stations will be set up at Malegaon, Supe in Baramati taluka, Uruli Kanchan in Haveli taluka, Nira Narsingpur in Indapur taluka and Pargaon (factory) in Indapur taluka.
The police station in Baramati taluka has been split to set up Malegaon station and Vadgaonnimbalkar police station has been split to set up Supe. For Malegaon police station, a police inspector, police sub-inspector and 80 posts have been created and a fund of Rs 35,41,500 has been sanctioned.
The Indapur police station has been split to set up Nira-Narsingpur police station and the posts of police inspector, sub-inspector along with 55 other posts have been sanctioned. A fund of Rs 35,41,500 has been sanctioned.
The Loni Kalbhor police station has been split to create a new Uruli Kanchan police station. The posts of a police inspector, sub-inspector and 100 others have been sanctioned and a fund of Rs 35,41,500 has been sanctioned.
The Manchar police station has been split to set up Pargaon (Factory) police station. The posts of a police inspector, sub-inspector and 55 others have been sanctioned and a fund of Rs 40,41,500 has been sanctioned.
The Daund police sub division has been split to set up a new Shirur sub division considering the urbanisation and industrialisation of Shirur taluka. The police stations at Shirur, Shikrapur and Ranjangaon MIDC will be a part of the new Shirur
The jurisdiction of Pune rural police is spread over a large area and the pace of urbanisation is very fast. However, there is only a staff of 2,550 for policing the area. Since the manpower is very less compared to other districts, the police personnel were overburdened. Hence, these new police stations have been set up.
There are 30 police stations in Pune rural area. There are divisions for local crimes, financial crimes, special, transport, women etc.
At present, there are sub divisional offices at Baramati, Daund, Bhor, Haveli, Junnar, Khed and Lonavla and now, a new sub division has been sanctioned at Shirur.
