Pune: deccan express – District Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh on Friday instructed officials to carry out drives to increase the number of second dose. He also told them to register a citizen’s name on the official portal immediately after administering the second dose.
Dr Deshmukh was speaking at a review meeting of the district-level action committee and various health committees. Sassoon Hospital Dean Dr Vinayak Kale, District Surgeon Dr Ashok Nandapurkar, District Health Officer Dr Bhagwan Pawar were present.
“There has been a slight uptick in the number of Covid-19 cases in the past few days. Covid-19 tests should be increased in rural and cantonment areas in the backdrop of Omicron virus cases. One needs to be vigilant about every individual showing flu-like symptoms as the Omicron virus spreads faster,” he said.
Pune has 13 while the State has 23 Omicron patients
In all, 23 new Omicron cases were registered in the State on Thursday. Of them, 13 are from Pune district. Seven patients are from Pimpri Chinchwad, three from Pune city and three from Pune rural areas. The reports about these cases were issued by the National Virological Institute and the National Chemical Laboratory. Most of the patients are asymptomatic while six have mild symptoms.
