Anti Corruption | FIR against Sub-divisional engineer for soliciting bribe from employee in Baramati

Pune: Deccan Express Anti Corruption Department has taken action in Baramati and filed an anti-corruption case against a individual, including a sub-divisional engineer of a water resources department.

Sub-Divisional Engineer Sanjay Narayan Mete (Bhima Upsa Irrigation Project, Palasdev, Tal. Indapur) and Popat Dashrath Shinde (resident of Baramati) are the names of those on whom action was taken.

The complainant is working in the office of Bhima Upsa Irrigation Project. His medical bill had come to Sub-Divisional Engineer Sanjay Mete for approval. He had demanded a bribe of Rs 5,000 to approve the bill. He was encouraged by Popat Shinde for this.

The complainant lodged a complaint with the Anti Corruption Department. Accordingly, the Anti-Corruption Department conducted an investigation. The trap was set on Sunday after he was found to have solicited bribes. However, the accused did not come to accept the bribe due to suspicion. However, a case has been registered against him at the Baramati taluka police station under the Bribery and Corruption Prevention Act.
