New Delhi : A MBBS doctor accused of spreading terrorism for the terrorist organization Al-Qaeda has filed a petition in Delhi’s Patiala House court, saying that he wants to treat the prisoners in Tihar Jail at the time of this corona epidemic, he should be allowed to do so. He was extradited from Saudi Arabia to India last year. The accused doctor says that he has a 7-year experience of treating serious illnesses.
In a petition filed on Wednesday before Special Judge Dharmendra Rana, accused Dr. Sabil Ahmed said that his experience and expertise as a medical professional can be taken advantage of in the treatment of prisoners in Tihar Jail and dealing with the cases of Covid-19 .
Sabil Ahmed, who was a member of the terrorist organization Al Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS), was arrested by the Special Cell of Delhi Police on 22 February. He is suspected of allegedly providing financial and other assistance to members of the terrorist organisation in India and abroad.
Ahmed’s lawyer M.S. Khan has requested the accused to direct the jail superintendent for permission to cooperate with the jail administration. The petition said that it would be necessary to mention that the accused is a MBBS doctor and he also has a 7-years’ experience of treating serious patients.
The petition states that his experience and expertise as a medical professional can be used to deal with cases of Covid-19 and in the treatment of prison inmates.
Sabil Ahmed is also accused in a suicide attack on 30 June 2007 at the Glasgow airport in Britain. Ahmed was extradited from Saudi Arabia on 20 August 2020 and was detained by the NIA in a recorded case of terrorism in Bengaluru. Later on 22 February this year, he was detained by the Special Cell of Delhi Police in the current case.
