Delhi: The Supreme Court has taken cognizance of the shortage of health facilities created across the country in the fight against Corona and the ongoing High Court hearings in several states related to the scarcity of these facilities. The Supreme Court has issued a notice to the Central Government on the supply of oxygen, medicines and other vital equipment. The Supreme Court has asked the center for the information on national level preparation to fight against coronavirus which includes the topic of vaccinations too.

A bench of Chief Justice Sharad Bobde noted that preparations to fight against corona are currently being heard in country’s six high courts. These include Mumbai, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Sikkim, Allahabad and Kolkata. “High courts are doing appropriate things in their respective areas but still confusion is been spread among people due do some rumours.”said Chief Justice Sharad Bobde.

The Supreme Court has sent notices to the central government on four issues regarding supply of oxygen, supply of essential medicines, method of vaccination and the right to declare a lockdown. Meanwhile, Harish Salve has been appointed as Amicus Curiae.

The chief justice S. Bobde said that the states should have the power to declare a lockdown in this critical time and the courts should not comment on it. Allahabad High Court’s decision to declare lockdown in five states of Uttar Pradesh are on kept on hold by the Supreme Court.
The bench of Chief Justice Sharad Bobde has clarified that the issues raised by some high courts will be omitted temporary. Meanwhile, hearings in the high courts will continue.
