Pune : Deccan Express – Pune Corporation | Amenity Space is the property of the people of Pune. But in the last phase, the ruling BJP approved a long-term lease to raise party funds for the elections. In short, these properties will be sold. “We are opposed to this proposal and will ask the government to cancel it,” NCP city president Prashant Jagtap said in a press conference.
Leader of Opposition Deepali Dhumal was also present on the occasion. Jagtap said that in the last 12 to 15 years, amenity spaces for public use have come under the control of the Municipal Corporation. This amenity space is the property of the people of Pune. But if space is not available, those facilities cannot be built. Our role is to keep at least 30 percent of the space vacant. We demanded that a master plan be prepared for the use of amenity space. However, the ruling BJP approved the proposal on the strength of a majority. “We will oppose it in the general body meeting and will also seek the approval of the state government to cancel the proposal,” Jagtap said.

Meanwhile, MP Adv. Vandana Chavan has also opposed the proposal. The pollution of Pune city is increasing rapidly and it will continue to increase. Trees are cut down in the name of development, but new trees are not planted at that extent. The 74th Amendment requires municipal corporations to develop urban forests.
At a time when we are facing the crisis of global warming, it has become important to take care of them by planting trees in the open. When the construction is done, the process of draining the water in the ground is completely stopped. We have experienced the effects of this through floods after rains. There is an urgent need for all to come together and oppose this proposal.
