Mumbai : Deccan Express – Parambir Singh | A fourth summons was issued to former Mumbai Police Commissioner Parambir Singh today to appear before the Chandiwal Commission. Parambir was expected to appear before the commission today, but when he did not appear, he was fined Rs 25,000.
A petition was filed in the High Court against the commission. The court did not issue any directions on the petition today.
The Chandiwal Commission fined Rs 25,000 to former police commissioner Parambir Singh. The commission has been appointed by the state government to probe the allegations levied against former Home Minister Anil Deshmukh by former police commissioner Parambir Singh.
Earlier, the commission had also fined Singh Rs 5,000 for the same reason. In a letter, Singh has accused Deshmukh of corruption and extortion. While the CBI is probing the case, the state government has also appointed a Chandiwal Commission.
The commission has been opposed by Singh in a petition filed in the Mumbai High Court. If the CBI is investigating the case, then why should there be an inquiry by the commission, Singh has argued.
