Mumbai : deccan express     The state police force will be strengthened soon. Around 50,000 personnel will be recruited in the near future. This was announced by State Home Minister Dilip Walse Pail on Tuesday, on the last day of the state legislature winter session. The posts announced by the then Home Minister RR Patil during his tenure but could not be filled will now be recruited. (Maharashtra Police Recruitment)


Recruitment during RR Patil’s tenure

Replying to the last-week proposals submitted by the opposition, Walse Patil admitted that the state police force has been facing manpower shortage. The then Home Minister RR Patil had announced that 60,000 police personnel would be recruited. Of these, 10,000 police persons have been recruited. The remaining 50,000 personnel will now be recruited. A decision to that effect would be made during the state cabinet meeting, said Walse Patil.


Crime against women rising

Criticising the government, Opposition Leader Devendra Fadnavis said law and order has worsened in the State. Crimes against women are increasing. Replying to his remarks, Walse Patil admitted a rise in crimes against women. He said the Shakti Act has been implemented to curb crimes against women. There are various views about the capital punishment under it. However, this provision is only meant for gory crimes.


Recruitment process will be launched afresh

Walse Patil said the process to fill 5,200 posts is underway. Preparations are being made to fill 7,000 police posts at the second stage. There is a manpower shortage in the police department. Details about recruiting 50,000 posts will be discussed in the cabinet meeting and a decision will be made.
