HEAD: State Government issues fresh Covid-19 guidelines; restrictions back in place again

Mumbai : deccan express – HEAD: The State Government is back on the alert after the number of Covid-19 cases rose in the State recently. Moreover, concerns have been expressed due to the new variant found in South Africa. The central government has issued an advisory to all states to remain on the alert. They have been asked to be particularly vigilant about people arriving from abroad.

New guidelines have been issued after reviewing the Covid-19 situation in the State. Only citizens with two doses have been allowed to travel and enter malls, auditoriums and public functions. The state government has issued universal passes. It has been made mandatory to carry the vaccination certificate and an identity card while travelling.

The new guidelines

Only those with two doses can travel by auto-rickshaws, taxis and cabs. Public or private transport can be used by fully vaccinated citizens only.

People arriving in Maharashtra from other states have to carry the vaccination certificate or undergo the RT-PCR test 72 hours before their journey.

Cinema halls, auditoriums, marriage halls will operate at their 50 percent capacity.

Rs 500 penalty for not wearing a mask in public places. Shopkeepers attending to customers not wearing masks will be penalised for Rs 10,000. Mall owners will have to pay a fine of Rs 50,000 if customers are found not wearing masks.

Rs 50,000 fine if the norms are violated during political rallies, meeting.

Only 25 percent of the audience has been allowed to watch the India-New Zealand test series in a public place.

Rs 500 fine each for a taxi owner and a passenger for not wearing masks.

Social distancing should be a minimum six feet.

Spitting in public places is forbidden.

The Centre writes to the states

Precautionary measures need to be taken due to the new variant found in South Africa. An alert has been issued to all states. The central government has written to the states that international passengers arriving in the states should be strictly monitored. Screening should be done of the passengers arriving from South Africa, Hong Kong and Botswana. The letter has been issued by Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan.
