MUMBAI : Deccan Express Ajit Pawar | Former corporator of Thane Madan Kadam opened fire in Morna village in Patan taluka of Satara district after an argument with local residents over an accident involving his son’s car. Two locals died and another person is in a serious condition. Speaking in the state assembly, The Leader of the Opposition, Ajit Pawar, said, “Are we being ruled by Mughals that a person opened fire and killed two persons over a trivial issue?”. He criticised the government over the law and order situation in the state.

Former corporator of Thane Madan Kadam’s son’s vehicle was involved in an accident in Morna area on March 15. Kadam’s son had a scuffle with local residents. After 2/3 days, there was an argument between local villagers and Kadam. Kadam, who was angry over the incident, opened fire in the Morna area and two local residents died.

The issues of an election of a society and the pending payment of a windmill may have also led to the firing. One of the deceased was a supporter of Minister Shambhuraje Desai. Because of the firing incident, there is fear among locals of the Gureghar dam area in Morna valley.

Despite the arrest of Kadam and his sons, Pawar demanded that this matter should be thoroughly probed.
