Mumbai : Deccan Express – It has been claimed that the assets of Thackeray government minister and NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal have been confiscated. BJP leader Kirit Somaiya tweeted this information. The BENAMI Properties of Chhagan Bhujbal, former MP Sameer Bhujbal and former MLA Pankaj Bhujbal worth Rs 100 crore were seized by the Income Tax Department, Somaiya said. However, ‘I have nothing to do with the property confiscated by the Income Tax Department’, said Chhagan Bhujbal.
According to Kirit Somaiya, the Income Tax Department has sealed the Al-Jabriya Court building on Marine Drive as a disproportionate asset. The market value of the building is Rs 100 crore. The company under investigation did not have enough money to buy the building. The ED had also investigated the building in a money laundering case against NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal. It was suspected that ED had used the money from the Maharashtra Sadan scam to buy the building. In this case, ED suspected that the money was invested through businessman Arshad Siddiqui. Accordingly, the ED had also recorded his reply.
Siddiqui and Bhujbal’s nephew Sameer had gone to Kuwait in December 2013. In Kuwait, they met with members of the royal family who were entitled to the building and discussed the agreement. Such evidence was obtained by the ED. The royal family retained the upper floor of the Al-Jabriya Court building. The other flats in the building were rented out, Somaiya said. Meanwhile, Chhagan Bhujbal has said that he has nothing to do with the property confiscated by the Income Tax Department.
