The coronavirus is spreading all around the world. The number of patients is also increasing significantly. But now corona sufferers are being told they are at risk of a new disease called black fungus. After that, the central government has asked the state governments to declare the black fungus an epidemic.
The Central Government has directed the States to notify Mucormycosis i.e. Black Fungus under the Epidemic Diseases Act 1897. It also said that various states should be informed about the matter. The Union Ministry of Health said that all government, private health centers and medical colleges should abide by the regulations issued by MoHFW and ICMR.
Earlier, Rajasthan and Telangana had declared Black Fungus a notifiable disease under the Epidemic Act. The Telangana government is targeting patients recovering from Covid-19. Follow the guidelines in all government and private health centers. On the other hand, the Rajasthan government has declared Mucormycosis as an epidemic with Section 3 of the Rajasthan Epidemic Act 2020.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday said that special centers would be set up in Delhi for the treatment of black fungus or mucormycosis in three Delhi government hospitals. Kejriwal made the announcement after meeting officials at a meeting to discuss the growing issue of black fungus.
In Maharashtra, 90 people have died of Mucormycosis so far. This is a serious condition. So we need to take this seriously. COVID-19 patients should not use steroids to prevent black fungus disease. There are currently 1500 patients in the state. Of these, 850 are active patients. Meanwhile, 500 patients have gone home after treatment, said Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope.
