Man ki Baat : PM urged people to pet a dog of Indian Breed

New Delhi: Recalling the bravery of various dogs serving in the security forces, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday urged the countrymen to pet a dog of Indian breed.  The Prime Minister while addressing in ‘man ki baat’ said, ‘ As we were celebrating Independence Day, very interesting news caught my attention about two brave characters of our security forces – one is Sophie and the other is Vida serving in the Indian Army.

They were honored for discharging their  duties while defending the nation. There are many brave dogs with our armed forces who made supreme sacrifices for the country and for our nation. He said, ‘in 2006, a dog named Balram detected a large quantity of explosives on the way to Amarnath Yatra. In 2002, a dog named Bhavana detected an IED. In Bijapur, Chhattisgarh, CRPF’s sniffer dog ‘Cracker’ was also killed in an IED blast. Recently, Beed police did a tear-jerker ad for their dog ‘Rocky’, which helped police solve more than 300 cases.

On April 7, 2017, a detachment of E / 170 BN with CRPF Canine Soldier Cracker were on Area Domination Duty in Modakpal Forest Area, Bijapur, Chhattisgarh. It was leading troops and alerted soldiers to suspicious IEDs planted on the railway track. Unfortunately, the IED exploded and the cracker made the supreme sacrifice to save the soldiers.
