New Delhi: The central government has issued an alert to all state governments that by 30 September the Ration card should be linked with Aadhar card. Only 12 days left to get your Ration card link with Aadhar card, otherwise in the coming days ration card holders may be deprived of government beneficiary schemes. This might affect 24 crore ration card holders.

If the ration card is not linked to Aadhaar, then the name will eliminated from the ration card. Therefore, the remaining ration card holders should link their ration card to Aadhaar by 30 September 2020.

There are currently 23.5 ration card holders in the country, in which more than 90 percent people have Aadhaar PAN linking. With the help of ration card, people can purchase food grains from fair price shops under public distribution system (PDS) at a much lower price than the market price. If you have not got your ration card PAN linking, tgen do it immediately. The Aadhar linking can be done at the PDS shop. Information about this has also been given on the website of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).

These five tasks will have to be done to link Aadhaar

• Submit a copy of ration card and Aadhar card copy of all family members at PDS center.
• Submit the passport size photo of the head of the family in the ration card.
• Scanning of all the fingers on the biometric machine will bring all the data.
• The officer will match your complete details and Aadhaar number.
• When you get the message of Aadhaar link from the ration card on your registered mobile number, your linking will be successfully accepted.

During the coronavirus period, ration card holders are being provided with the ration with help of the free food scheme. The Modi government has been giving 5 kg of food grains (wheat, rice and lentils) free to ration card holders since the month of March to ensure that the person does not sleep hungry during the lockdown. This scheme of the government will continue till November.

There are usually three types of ration cards made in India. APL to the people living above the poverty line, BPL to those living below the poverty line and Antyodaya for the poorest families. State governments issue ration cards to their citizens, which also serves as an identity card. To make a ration card, it is mandatory to fulfill certain conditions. To get a ration card of below poverty line or Antyodaya scheme, you have to submit some documents including income certificates. Food Safety Act of the Government of India has made certain conditions for making new ration cards.

So far, 26 states and union territories have been added to the One Nation One Ration Card scheme, an ambitious scheme of the central government. Portability service has started in these states.
