Pune : deccan express Rain in Maharashtra |  The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted moderate rainfall in Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada on December 28 and 29.

As a result of the formation of western disturbance over north-west India from December 26 and another western disturbance over central India from December 27, rain is expected in various parts of Maharashtra, adding to the woes of farmers.

A few districts in Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada are likely to be affected as the IMD has predicted rainfall with a thunderstorm at a few places while light showers are expected at other places.

Unseasonal rains have already destroyed Kharip crops in the State, now even the Rabi crops are in danger due to the fresh western disturbance. The westerly winds over central India will bring rain to the State on December 28 and 29. As a result, Madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha and Marathwada are likely to experience rainfall, accompanied by a thunderstorm.

The IMD has issued a yellow alert in Jalna, Parbhani, Yavatmal, Hingoli, Nanded, Aurangabad, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Nagpur, Wardha and Amravati districts. Many places in these districts will witness rain on Tuesday. The sky will remain partly cloudy in Nashik, Dhule, Beed and Nanded districts while some places may experience light showers.

Rain, along with a thunderstorm, is likely on December 29 as well. It will affect Nagpur, Bhandara, Gondia, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Yavatmal, Nanded, Hingoli, Parbhani and Jalna districts.
