Pune : deccan express – A couple travelling on a two-wheeler was attacked near a farm by a leopard at Bori Budruk in Junnar taluka (Pune), in which the woman was injured. The incident took place on Tuesday evening.
According to details of the incident, Hausabai Dattatray Shinde, a resident of Shinde Mala, Bori Budruk, was hurt in the leopard attack. Hausabai and Dattatray were going towards their hamlet from Bori Budruk when the leopard hiding in a sugarcane field pounced on their two-wheeler. The cat bit the woman’s left leg.
Forest officials Santosh Salunkhe, Tryambak Jagtap and villagers rushed to the spot after learning about the incident. The injured woman was taken to a primary health centre (PHC) for treatment. However, she had to be shifted to the Junnar rural hospital due to non-availability of vaccines at the PHC.
Leopards have been spotted in the area for many years as they get a safe hiding place in sugarcane farms. They also kill and eat domestic animals. The latest incident of a leopard attack has caused panic in the area. Villagers have demanded that a trap be laid to capture the wild animal.
