Pune : deccan express – The metro train route from Vanaz to Garware College is all set to welcome passengers. The route will be ready within a week, however, it will be open only after formal inauguration.
The 5 km distance from Vanaz to Garware College will be covered in 13 minutes. The work of metro stations at Vanaz, Ideal Colony, Anandnagar, Nal Stop and Garware College is also in the last phase. It will be all done till January 15.
The senior officers of railways will visit the stations and review the work on January 11 and 12. After the formal inauguration the route will be open for journey, said Executive Director of Maha Metro Vinay Agrawal and project director Atul Gadgil. The inaugural function will be held by Pune Municipal Corporation, state government and central government. Bus bay and rickshaw stand will be at the ground floor of the station building, ticket counter will be on first floor while second floor will have cafeteria.
Helpline for passengers
Help will be handy for passengers at the metro station. They can press the button near the lift to seek help. It will connect them the station controller or the central control room. For instance, if a passenger forgets his/her bag in the metro, he/she can seek help from the helpline. The metro employees will pick up the bag at the next station and hand it over to the owner.

Income from advertisements
Considering the meagre income from fares, new income sources have been planned by Maha Metro.
Contract of Rs 25 lakh for a year has been signed for advertisement on metro cars with a nationalized bank. Maha Metro will earn Rs 65 lakh for advertisement at Garware College station from a private hospital. An additional Rs 45 lakh will come from advertisement at Nal Stop.
Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) will start shuttle bus service from airport to Ramwadi, Yerwada and Kalyaninagar so that they can avail metro service from these stations.
