Pune : Deccan Express – Pune News | Saroja Parulkar born on March 18, 1944 in Pune has passed away. She completed her primary education in Pune and her degree in BJ Medical Government College (Pune News). After that, while living in Kolhapur, she became interested in photography. She provided daily information on the Western Ghats Conservation Movement.
She collected information about Vilasrao Salunkhe’s ‘Pani Panchayat’ initiative and made a documentary on it. Also, the first article on senior social activist Anna Hazare’s Ralegan Siddhi village was written by Vijay Parulkar. The photo was taken by Saroja Parulkar. Saroja Parulkar also led the women’s front by participating in Sharad Joshi’s sugarcane movement. She wrote the book ‘Yodha Shetkari’ based on the news of this sugarcane movement which became very popular all over the state.
She also wrote a book, Baimanus, based on women she met across the state on the occasion of her studies and agitation. She was honored with a special award by the Ministry of Women and Child Development for her photography on ‘Mother Child Care’. Her book also won a state government award.
