History sheeter, two others held for accepting bets on IPL matches by Pimpri Chinchwad Crime Branch

Pimpri : Deccan ExpressPune Crime | An FIR has been filed against four people for accepting bets on IPL matches and three of them have been arrested. They include a history sheeter. (Pune Crime)

 

The action was taken by a team of Pimpri Chinchwad Police Crime Branch by raiding a flat. The police seized Rs 25 lakh, eight mobiles and other equipment used for accepting and placing bets. The history sheeter, who was arrested, said he had contacts in high places and created obstacles in government work.

 

Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissioner Krishna Prakash got a tip that betting on IPL matches was going on at a flat in Kalewadi. The anti-goonda cell raided flat number 106, Vaibhav Paradise, Rajwadenagar in Kalewadi.

 

They arrested Sunny alias Bhupendra Charanjitsingh Gill (38), a resident of Kalewadi, Ricky Rajesh Khemchandani (36), a resident of behind Delux Theatre, Pimpri and Subhash Ramkishan Agarwal (57), a resident of Pimpri.

 

A case has been registered against Sunny Sukheja. ASI Hazrat Ali Pathan has filed a complaint at the Wakad police station on Sunday.

 

Sunny Gill is a notorious criminal and many serious crimes are registered against him. The police said that this was the first big action taken by the police after the start of the IPL season.

 

After the action by the anti-goonda cell, Police Commissioner Krishna Prakash and ACP Prashant Amritkar arrived at the spot.

 

Police Commissioner Krishna Prakash said that he got a tip that betting was going on the match between Gujarat Titan and Delhi Capital. The head of the anti-goonda cell Harish Mane and his team raided a flat in Kalewadi and arrested three people. They also found a lot of cash and other equipment.

 

The accused Sunny Gill created obstruction in government work by telling the police officials that he had contacts in high places and action against him will create problems for the police. He threatened the policemen and engaged in a scuffle with them. The police have registered a separate case against him.

 

The action was taken by anti-goonda cell chief Harish Mane, Hazrat Pathan, police naik Vijay Telewar, Mayur Dalvi, Sunil Chaudhary and Tousif Khan.
