Mumbai : Deccan Express – Narayan Rane | After the objectionable statement made by Union Minister Narayan Rane against Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, an unprecedented incident took place in the state. On the one hand, Shiv Sena BJP workers clashed on the streets while the state government arrested Rane. Police produced Rane in Mahad Sessions Court late last night. The court granted him bail after a 15-hour hearing. The court summoned Narayan Rane for his statement.
What happened to the court?
Narayan Rane has been granted bail on a personal caste bond of Rs 15,000. He was granted bail as the police did not complete the necessary procedures for his arrest.
Rane was arrested by the police at Sangameshwar. He was then taken to Mahad in his own car. Crimes have been registered against him in Mahad, Nashik, Pune and Thane. Rane was produced in the court around 10 pm. During the hearing in the Mahad court, the police demanded seven days police custody for Rane. Rane had insulted the Chief Minister and how can a person in a high position like him make such irresponsible statements? This question was also asked by the ruling party. Prosecutors also claimed there was a conspiracy behind Rane’s statement, and demanded police custody to investigate the conspiracy. However, Rane’s lawyers rejected the claim. Rane’s lawyers also claimed that the police had arrested Rane under the wrong section and had not given him a written notice. Rane’s lawyers said his arrest was illegal.
Narayan Rane’s lawyers had sought bail on the grounds of his health. The case filed against Rane under sections 153 (b) and 505 (2) has been filed on wrong grounds. He could also be sentenced to a maximum of seven years under the clauses imposed on him. Rane’s lawyers claimed that bail could be granted in such cases as per the Supreme Court verdict. The Rane family was also present in the court during the hearing. Nashik and Pune police had also reached Mahad while the court hearing was underway.
