Maharashtra Police | FIR against 5 policemen for demanding ransom of Rs 10 lakh in the name of Home Minister

Pune : Deccan Express – Maharashtra Police | The court has ordered to file charges against five police personnel in the crime branch in a case of demanding a ransom of Rs 10 lakh from reputed transport professional in the city in the name of the former home minister of the state. Abdul Asif had lodged a complaint in the name of the Home Minister against five policemen working in the Local Crime Branch (LCB) under the guise of inspecting vehicles belonging to Vijay Transport Director Vijay Transport in Washim Bypass area.


What is said in the complaint?

Abdul Asif’s three trucks were forcibly parked illegally in the LCB premises and they demanded Rs 10 lakh in the name of the then home minister of the state, threatening to file charges, Asif had said in the complaint. A copy of the complaint was also handed over to the Prime Minister, Transport Minister, Director General of Police, Amravati Divisional Inspector General of Police, Akola District Police. However, he received no response from the police. The matter was also investigated by the Inspector General of Police. Meanwhile. Police personnel accused of soliciting ransom have been transferred from the local crime branch.

Meanwhile, the then PI Shailes Sapkal was also transferred to the Bribery Prevention Department. Asif had consistently demanded action against the culprits in order to get justice in the case. However, no action was taken and he took the matter to court. A petition was filed in the court in this regard. So, after hearing the arguments of both sides and accepting the factual and circumstantial evidence, The court has ordered the filing of offenses under different sections against Jayanta Shriram Sontakke, Kishor Kashinath Sonawane, Vasimoddin Alimoddin, Ashwin Hariprasad Mishra and others.
