ICAI Pune Chapter wins four national, regional awards

Pune : deccan express The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), Pune Chapter has won the second prize for outstanding performance at the national and regional levels. The ICAI Pune Chapter secured the second position for the best chapter award and for the best student (development) chapter award.


The national award was given by Union Minister of State for Finance Dr Bhagwat Karad in New Delhi while the state-level award was given by ICAI national president CA Nihar Jambusaria.


Annual awards are given for the best chapter and the best student chapter by the ICAI main and regional offices. The Pune Chapter got the second prize among the 17 mega chapters at the national level. The student chapter ‘Vikasa’ also got the second prize. In the Western Region, the Pune chapter received the second prize while the student chapter got the first prize. These four awards have been won under the guidance of ICAI central committee member CA Chandrashekhar Chitale and under the leadership of Pune chapter president CA Sameer Ladda, vice-president CA Kashinath Pathare.



CA Sameer Ladda said, “We focused on the concept of ‘E-Square’ – Ethics, Expansion, E-governance and Expertise- throughout the year. We invited many speakers, held new programmes on various topics and organized national conventions. We interacted with the Union Minister of State for Finance, State Cooperation Minister, Cooperation Commissioner, Sugar Commissioner, I-T Commissioner and eminent people from other fields. All members responded very well. Evaluation was made on that basis. The office-bearers of the Pune chapter, the members of executive committee, committee members of the main office, committee members of the western region, members of the sub-committee, all CAs from the city, speakers, students and staff of the chapter contributed to this success.”


The ICAI has 163 chapters across the country. The Pune chapter is the third largest chapter in India. The Pune chapter has 10,500 CA members and 22,000 CA students, said CA Ladda.


CA Kashinath Pathare said, “We plan our programmes throughout the year in view of future challenges before the fraternity. We also had CEO-CFO meets, outreach programmes, member induction initiatives, blood donation camps, Swach Bharat Abhiyan, vertical gardens, honouring martyrs and social initiatives during the pandemic. We held programmes for the development of students. We had industry visits, articleship advice and motivational talks. Accounting museums have been set up in six colleges in the city.”
