Deccan Express |  There is some sigh of relief for parents of students who are learning in English medium schools in Maharashtra. Thanks to the Maharashtra English School Trustees Association (MESTA) who has resolved to cut the academic fees by 25 percent for the current academic year.

Also, MESTA has decided not to charge fees from students who have lost their parents due to the Covid-19.  The decision taken at MESTA’s recent meeting will be applicable to all its 18,000 member schools across the state. out of the total schools, nearly 750-800 are in the Pune district.

Students studying in Junior Kindergarten to class 12th will be benefited from the decision.

There have been demands from parents about the concession in fees as most of them are facing financial difficulties due to loss of job, loss of income from a business, and many more reasons which are the result of the Covid -19 pandemic.

There were many incidents where students who failed to pay fees on time were removed from the online classes. while at some schools their transfer certificates were also handed over to them forcibly.

According to MESTA, this concession will be given to students who are genuinely facing problems due to job loss. Also, parents are advised to reach the MESTA officials if English medium schools denied giving the concession..
