Pune : deccan express The Municipal Commissioner has decided that the Abhay Yojana (Property Tax Amnesty Scheme) will apply to residential properties only and not to commercial ones. As per the order issued by the civic chief, the property tax department has started implementation of the amnesty scheme from Thursday.

It will be applicable till January 26. PMC will give a waiver to property tax holders that have outstanding dues up to Rs 1 crore.

The municipal corporation standing committee had approved an amnesty scheme with a 75 per cent waiver on the penalty to the defaulters, if they pay under this scheme. It gave its nod to the scheme last year in December and it was made applicable to residential and commercial property holders.

However, Municipal Commissioner Vikarm Kumar did not approve the implementation of the scheme. Finally Kumar gave permission to implement the scheme only for residential property holders and not for commercial ones.

The Municipal Commissioner said, “We have approved the amnesty scheme and its implementation started from Thursday. However, this scheme will be for residential properties only.”

He cleared that action against defaulter commercial properties will continue.

Meanwhile, the Municipal Corporation has set a record by collecting over RS 1,300 crore revenue from property tax.
