NEW DELHI: In the second phase of the Covid-19 vaccination drive on Thursday, for the first time in the country, more than 10 lakh people were vaccinated all over the country.
The vaccination drive commenced on January 16, 2021 and till now 1.77 crore doses have been given to citizens. The second phase of the vaccination drive began on March 1, 2021.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare stated that the process of vaccination drive in the country has picked up after the Centre allowed 24-hour vaccination on all 7 days of the week. The vaccination drive includes 10,000 government centres.
Private hospitals have been directed to provide vaccines to people if they have enough staff and vaccine storage facilities. The price of the vaccination process is Rs 250.
The record that India set on Thursday was possible because of all the government and private hospitals worked together and gave the shot of Covid-19 vaccine to more than 10 lakh people. For now, old age people are being given preference and after that, youngsters will be getting the vaccine.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare stated that Maharashtra, Kerala, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, and Karnataka have reported the highest number of new Covid-19 cases in the country.
A total of 17,407 new cases were registered in which Maharashtra reported the highest number of new cases at 9,855. Kerala reported 2,765 while Punjab reported 772 new cases.
