Solapur : Deccan Express – Solapur Crime | A tractor carrying pilgrims was involved in an accident on Sunday night resulting in the death of four warkaris and six warkaris were injured. All warkaris hail from Kadamwadi in Tuljapur taluka. The accident took place on the Solapur-Pune highway near Kondi. A truck carrying cargo which was speeding, rammed into the tractor carrying pilgrims, which led to the accident.
The Solapur police rushed to the spot and started the rescue work. About 50 to 55 warkaris from Kadamwadi were going to Pandharpur on the occasion of Ekadashi. When their tractor reached Kondi, a truck which was travelling at full speed, rammed into the tractor which was dragged for 600 feet. The accident was gruesome and it led to the death of four warkaris and six warkaris were injured.
The rescue work started after the local police reached the spot. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital. Around 34 to 40 injured warkaris are being treated in the hospital and the casualties are expected to rise.
